Here we go…..

One of my most treasured possessions was stolen just a year ago. This was the first briefcase that I designed for Mulberry, the company I created, back in the early seventies; it was called (of course!) Roger's briefcase. It became an icon and was sold all around the world; we even had to reproduce it for the Japanese market in the 90's in antiqued form as a signed limited edition as our customers wanted that aged retro look. It must have featured in hundreds of magazine articles all over the world.

 It was recovered by pure chance some six months later by youths playing hide and seek, high up in a tree. It had been thrown there by the thieves, it was green with mould, sections had been chewed away by squirrels and the tree bark had stained it dark brown in places. All in all whilst it was amazing to have it back, it was seemingly damaged beyond repair.

I decided to check out the internet and see if I could find anyone that had tackled such hopeless restoration cases. I found Anna Carner and her Leather Therapy Company. On the off chance I whacked off an email to see if she could help.

Within days a Red Cross parcel of products had arrived which promised lots, but I couldn't believe it would bring any hope.

After weeks of careful application the briefcase started to come back to life. After a month it had achieved an amazing recovery, that just left my old Mulberry colleagues to help rebuild the irretrievably damaged gussets and whilst it isn't quite the patinated old friend it was, it has made a miraculous recovery as a battle hardened war veteran.

I have worked with all sorts of leather all my life and yet I have never come across a product range that begins to achieve what Anna has developed in resuscitating lost causes.
